Animal Friday
Every Friday students will learn about a new animal. We usually learn new facts, watch a short video, listen to animal sounds, complete a writing activity and a craft.

First Grade Fun

Important Dates
9/25-No School
Reminders
1) Please have your child wear sneakers Monday and Friday for P.E.
2) Students need a smock for art.
3) Your child is now switching for math!
Phonics
Our class has been reviewing letters and sounds with our "Start Smart" program. This will help us develop phonemic awareness in order to move on to complex letter combinations.
Reading
The students are working hard as well as learning routines and procedures in first grade. We have started whole group reading, and should be starting small group reading soon. Our little readers will be working on: main idea and details, identifying beginning, middle and end, and or story structure.
Math
Unit 1 of math will focus on counting, number sense, comparing numbers and addition.

I'm so happy to pass on the reading torch to my students! They are doing a fantastic job picking a book to read to the class.
Race for Education
Students ran/jogged/walked their way to more technology available to our school! They all tried very hard, I am so proud of them all!
Ms. Stotz
Ms. Stotz was a wonderful addition to our classroom. She did a fantastic job working with the students. We were sad to see her go.
