Pumpkins!

We learned a lot about pumpkins today!  Especially that they come in all different colors.

Then we voted on how to carve our classroom jack-o-lantern.  The students helped me scoop out the inside.

Our finished product.
Students designed their own jack-o-lanterns and wrote why theirs was the best.

Halloween Happenings

Ms. Lahey loves a good holiday!  This is just the beginning of our spooktacular celebrations leading up to Halloween.  Today we learned all about bats.  What a creepy animal Friday!  We also read one of my favorite books, Stellaluna.

 In other news...
Our classroom has a beautiful pumpkin from our school garden!

Shapes Shapes Shapes

So Many Shapes
You may all be wondering why a lot of the math papers are coming home blank! It's because we have been doing so many fun things with shapes.  It's hard to show all the interesting things we are doing with them on paper.

Shaving Cream Spelling

Always a favorite.  A great way to practice spelling words (and clean the desks)!

Short A Game

Students worked together to match beginning sounds with middle and end sounds.

Math Games

How Many Am I Hiding
Students had 10 counters in all.  One student hid some behind their back.  Their partner got to see how many were left and tried to figure out how many were hidden.
