We have all been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the laptops. They are finally here and we did a phenomenal job with the devices. I was so impressed with how the students handled using them and taking care of them.

Cooperative Groups
So much of our reading allows for cooperative groups and students working together and learning from each other. It melts my heart to see them taking control of their learning!
I also love watching them share their work with their peers.
Reading Reading Reading
I just LOVE seeing my students read during Daily 5! They are doing such a FANTASTIC job reading to self and with a partner. I could just explode with joy:)
Small Group Phonics
We like small groups for phonics too!
Playing bingo with spelling words.
Independent work with snacks:)
Blending with Mrs. Malatesta.
Independent work at their tables.

Phonics
Students continue to work hard at
blending/sounding out words. We have
focused on short vowels and are getting into letter blends. Each Friday we will have a spelling test. The words are given out on Monday and can be
practiced throughout the week. Usually
1-2 homeworks reinforce the words for the week.
Reading
My book worms are finishing up Unit 1: Elements of
Fiction and moving onto Unit 2: Elements of Non-Fiction. I’m looking forward to going over facts, main
idea and details, and searching for important information.
Math
My mathematicians worked hard on addition, missing
addends, and counting. We will be moving
onto geometry and 2-d shapes. I think
the students will enjoy using shape blocks to make bigger patterns.
