Animal Friday

The Great Horned Owl
We learned facts about the owl, for example, they don't really have horns!
Students made their owls and then we read Owl Moon.

Reindeer Applications!

One of my favorite things to do every year is our classroom reindeer applications.  Each student applied to become one of Santa's reindeer.  They said what would make them an excellent reindeer and why they would want to work for Santa.  The result: the cutest looking reindeers in the world!!

Celebrating Different Holidays

Students sequenced the making of Latkes.  Yummy!!

Happy Kwanza
Our class made a Kwanza wreath with the three colors of Kwanza: red, green, black.

Polar Express

My favorite book to read this time of year is The Polar Express.  Students were given a ticket and earned their way onto our classroom "train"(unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures).   Their tickets were punched and it was time to read the story.  Everyone enjoyed listening to the story and getting their own bell.  Afterwards, students wrote their wish for the first gift of Christmas while sipping on hot cocoa.
